I participated in the The Delta Program in Research, Teaching and Learning to expose myself to more effective teaching resources and to collaborate with others who share similar interests in teaching. Delta focuses on promoting the development of a future national faculty in the natural and social sciences, engineering, and mathematics that is committed to implementing and advancing effective teaching practices for diverse student audiences as part of their professional careers. There are three pillars of the Delta Program:
Teaching-as-Research : use and implement research methods to further progress the field of teaching and learning to advance students' outcomes.
Learning Community: by fostering a collaborative environment, it enriches the learning experience through shared knowledge and discovery.
Learning-through-Diversity: each individual has their own set of experiences that enriches the learning experience for all.
Delta Internship
I first participated in Delta through the internship program. I was interested in using the teaching-as-research method to explore a hypothesis about learning in the classroom, specifically how peer mentoring is beneficial for students, and evaluate its effectiveness. This experience opened my eyes to a whole new world of conducting education-based research and different ways to examine and investigate methods of instruction.

Exploring Practices in the Classroom (EPIC) Learning Community
I engaged in the EPIC learning community to work with others to develop an effective, inclusive classroom for all as well as navigate the teaching challenges that emerge during the semester. I was able to be exposed to others teaching from a variety of disciplines and learn from our conversations on teaching.
EPIC Learning Community Reflection
Writing Across the Curriculum Course
I took the Writing Across the Curriculum course to gain exposure to the Writing Across the Curriculum pedagogy, which works to incorporate writing and speaking assignments across all disciplines. I had discovered that I can strengthen student learning through the development of strong writing assignments. Much like the learning community, I was also able to engage with people from a variety of disciplines who provided great insight on teaching from their experiences. At the end of the course, we were asked to implement the techniques from our readings and discussions in our own assignment for a future course we will teach. I chose to create a lab report assignment for students to practice in scientific writing style and become more familiar with the structure of scientific literature for future work.

Certificate
I chose to obtain a Delta Certificate to provide an opportunity for me reflect on my teaching experiences as I develop a teaching and learning portfolio for my future career in STEM education. The Learning Objectives Matrix below outline how I have explored the field of teaching and learning through various activities in Delta, WISCIENCE and CIRTL and met the learning objectives of the Delta Certificate.
